Yeah, but that wasn’t snake oil.
Looked at a picture of the SBOOSTER here, see screenshot.
Now, that’s supposed to be lifting veils worth 400 bucks?
A little bit of mains filtering, cheesy 1N100x rectifier diodes, off the shelf voltage regulator with application note circuitry … come on!
That accounts for some 50 bucks. The rest pays the spin doctors from marketing.
Sure But let’s have some hard facts
18 x 2.25 = 40,5W
19 x 3,42 = 65,0W
So, not a good idea! Warning!

As I said earier, LPS are cheap to make. This is an example of a cheap supply. Someone else posted an LPS they bought from AliExpress for a fraction of the cost with supporting measurements, and it is a far superior build. You don’t need to spend a fortune on an LPS.
Best option for a Nucleus/computer is to continue using the provided PSU.
Of course, I did the maths before posting my reply. Running an underpowered PSU can result in unexpected shutdown and filesystem corruption, and breaking the Roon database.
I have opened one myself as well some time ago. It is way overpriced. It is nothing more than a bog standard psu with cheap components and it does not measure very well either. I would never power a computer with this device, well in fact I tried and it performed worse than the standard smps. But hey, it has got the magic word “linear” printed on it so it is audiophool aproved. In my view it’s nothing special at all and way too expensive for how it performs. 400 bucks will buy you an smps that performs much much better on stability, transient response, noise and effiency. But hey lps good, smps bad is a strong mantra that is very hard to overcome.
Even if a user would find an LPS for his Nucleus One that meets the requirement (19V, 60W), the user could end up if another problem a couple of years down the road.
The requirements are changing very fast. My latest NUC (NUC13) needs 20V:
The NUC (NUC10) that I had before did require 19V
So if the user wants to change NUC than the user is facing the risk that a new LPS is also needed.

@mjw , Roon Labs sell the Nucleus One with a SBooster LPSU in the Asia/Pacific markets:
Maybe importer/distributor of SBooster (Harmonia Distribution/Upscale Audio) would like to opine?
They could be very special diodes, their antique design could make them valuable & hence objects of desire….
Then, please ask them what they exactly mean by “In this package, we are providing an additional 19V DC Linear power supply from SBooster, which will enhance the performance of the Nucleus One.”
Used the original power supply again after reading your message about the requirements which sBooster did not have so just to be sure. Thanks for the warning

At best, it’s an official reseller. For instance, the UK site is transparent and operated by Henley Audio.
Selling an non-standard PSU seems to suit their no refund policy, and buyer pays transit costs for warranty repairs.
Probably the domain, https://roon.asia
I agree that it’s likely the local importer, but Roon Labs should either exert more control if they allow it to look like official Roon, or make it clearer that it’s just their independent importer who doesn’t speak for Roon Labs.
One wonders how the Sbooster is related to the sticker on the Nucleus regarding “only use with original PS”
Oh, I’m not necessarily assuming it’s operated by roon themselves. But I wanted to point out always ask what’s actually behind more than vague claims. And read an answer carefully, if you’ll ever get one.
Maybe not directly operated by Roon, but there is a link to the site mentioned in the footer of the official RoonLabs site.
Sloppy, just sloppy. It appears the right hand doesn’t know what the left hand is doing.
I believe the moderators are not Roon ( as in not employees - correct me if I am wrong ) and I don’t want to get too righteous here, but given the discrepancy between the explicit direction not to use a different PS and the fact that these people are selling one, thinking some should let Roon know and maybe some measures should be taken by the company… given that it causes the device to operate outside of parameters.
