Help!!! bought Roon months ago, Had a friend build me high powered Windows PC. Roon is the only application I run on that PC. Recently installed HQ Player NAA and it’s very glitchy. Dump the personal PC and get a hardware device that is more stable?
It might help if you describe
- The PC specifications
- What do you mean by glitchy? Examples. What resolution are you trying to play to.
windows 11, intel processor (i3). Glitchy meaning most 256 filters will NOT play, forget about any 512 filters…
It would help to know more details about the hardware than just i3
I run Roon on a fanless PC together with Plex and a load of other server based media products. It’s an i9 with 64Gb RAM, a 2Tb SSD and a 6Tb external HD. Even with everything on it running simultaneously (including transcoding) it never even slows down. I don’t usually use filters, upsampling or headroom management, but I have tried them and again, there was no performance degradation.
So, a PC is fine for Roon and a lot more, but you might need a higher spec. I did used to run it on an i5 NUC with all of the same software, but it did run out of steam from time to time.
High powered would be i7 or i9. Does it have a cuda enabled nvidia video card? If so which one?
