Roon Nucleus with OWC Storage Chassis

Hello, I’m new to the forum.

I work for a small Hifi company and have been tasked with transferring a FLAC library from a QNAP NAS drive to SSD.

The customer had around 8TB of music on his QNAP so we purchased SATA SSD drives with an OWC chassis to use with his Windows computer.

It worked flawlessly with the test on my computer but the customer discovered his computer was too old to run Roon.

He switched gears and asked about the Roon Nucleus. I did a quick search and called OWC directly and they said it should work as long as I format the files in EXFAT.

I went through the process of deleting the files and reinstalling everything in EXFAT. It will not work with the Nucleus and I’m wondering if I’m doing anything wrong.

Does anyone have advice for using OWC chassis with a Roon Nucleus?

How do you connect the OWC to the Nucleus?

it should handle an EXFAT drive as an external USB connected drive.

But if you’re connecting it as an internal SATA drive, the Nucleus will insist on formatting it, and then you’ll need to copy the music to it over the network.

I don’t know if the Nucleus will handle more than one drive, so you might want to partition the OWC as a single partition if you can before connecting it to the Nucleus.

I have an internal 8Tb SSD on one of my ROCKs (basically the same as a Nucleus) and that’s fine.

Does the OWC require Thunderbolt? If so, Roon OS doesn’t have support for this port: it is USB-C only.
