Roon Server
Roon on a NAS Asustor FS67
Upgraded from version 4 to 5 beta 3
Networking Gear & Setup Details
Ethernet connection between NAS and Fiber Box - IPV6
- Who is your internet service provider?
SFR FIBRE
Description of Issue -
Since I have upgraded to ADM 5 my Roon is no longer available beyond my local network which is a shame as my main listening app is Roon Arc on my iPhone.
On Roon app on iPad o r Mac the ARC reads that is not ready and port already in use:
Not ready
Roon ARC will not be able to access your Roon Server
Port is already in use. Either change the listening port or close any applications which may be using this port.
I have no other info to debug! I have tried Tailscale but without success. Everything was ok before ADM5.
Anyone with a beginning of a solution?
Thanks
Stéphane
Hey @Stephane_MURET,
Thanks for writing in and welcome to the community! We’re happy to have you here. Let’s get right to troubleshooting your issue -
This message usually means Roon ARC can’t establish a proper connection from your Core to the internet. The most common cause is that your router isn’t forwarding the right port or something else is already using the port Roon ARC needs.
- Open the Roon app on your Mac or iPad.
- Go to Settings > Roon ARC.
- Look at the status message — it should mention the port it’s trying to use (e.g., 55000).
- Take note of the port number listed.
Then:
- Restart your Roon Server
- Restart your router and modem to clear stale port assignments.
After that:
-
Log into your router’s admin page (usually 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1) and:
-
Look for a section called Port Forwarding
-
Add a manual port forwarding rule:
a. External Port = the port number from Step 1
b. Internal IP = the IP address of your Roon Server
c. Internal Port = same as External Port
d. Protocol = TCP (or both TCP/UDP if unsure)
-
Save/apply the rule.
Restart Roon / Arc and let me know if you’re able to connect!
Hi Valentin,
Thank for your swift reply!
Unfortunately for me there is no info whatsoever in the ARC Tab in Roon : all is empty. The message states that the “port is already in use” and ARC is “not ready”.
No IP showed, nor port ; and reset does not do anything.
I have tried and followed your indications above : but no luck on my side !
I even tried other pots, ports forwarding… failed.
My guess is that something is broken in the port of Roon Server under Asustor when upgrading to AMD 5b3.
Other App like Jellyfin keeps working fine (I can stream films outside my local network).
This is quite frustrating as I use Roon ARC daily as my main music App on my iPhone.
I need to mention that on my Local Network my iPad or iPhone cannot access Roon ARC either.
Only Roon is fine on the Local Network.
So there is a hipcus in Roon ARC internal processes that prevent it to function now.
Any help is greatly appreciated

Hi @Stephane_MURET,
Can you please show a screenshot of your port forwarding rule from your routers settings? Since it states the port is already in use, you’ll likely want to test out changing the port number here.
From there, you can and should be able to update your port number from within your Roon Settings > Roon Arc to what you’ve set within your router settings.
Hi Thanks for your reply!
Here is my screen shot.
Hope it can help!
