Roon on NAS - synology - ffmpeg files are missing!

Hi there!

I use my synology DS 1621+ since a long time now for my roononnas installation.
This setup worked well… but then my external USB SSD drive (exclusively use for the roonserver folder) gave up. mounting a new dive was no problem, but the roon backups did not accept the new drive for restoring my roon from a backup… new UUID i guess. so i had to install roononnas fresh on my synology - this was no problem either.

but: now the issue.

some years back, when i installed roononnas for the first time, I had an issue (DS 7+) with missing ffmpeg. so the maker of roononnas helped me out and was so friendly to have a phone call with me and installed via ssh the correct ffmpeg files for me…check!

because of my fresh installation theese files are gone… I missed to backup them :frowning:

I tried to install some ffmpeg files, with no succsess…my lokal music filed did not play.

Can anybody help me with the correct ffmpeg files??
Thanks!
Andreas

Sure. That same maker of RoonOnNAS has instructions here:

https://roononnas.org/en/synology-dsm7/

It’s a simple as:

Binaries of ffmpeg can be downloaded from JohnVanSickles website. You’ll need the amd64 version for Roon Server on the diskstation.

Extract the tar.xz archive and copy the ffmpeg from the extracted files folder into

<< Your selected database location >> / RoonOnNAS / bin

Then restart Roon Server in the package center.

Thanks,

I guess I use the build version? as its recommended? Whats the difference to an release version…?

Thanks! it works again! great…
