I have another question about my NAS 723+ with 32GB Ram.
An NVM2 may also be added.
Will Roon run on this box?
It is not displayed in the package manager… Plex, on the other hand, does.
At the moment I have about 350 albums with 6500 tracks managed in Roon, but I haven’t ripped everything yet.
I don’t think it will be more than 20,000 to 25,000 tracks in the long run.
I use Roon Arc for mobile access. In-house, there won’t be more than 3 simultaneous listeners. Usually just one.
I’m currently running my Roon library on a Mac Mini from 2012, but it’s nonsense to run the NAS and the Mini permanently.
Hence the idea of installing it on the NAS.
Is that possible and where can I get the program?
Thank you very much
That’s pretty much exactly what I’m using. 723+, 32GB RAM, NVME SSD module set up as a volume to run ROON on and hold the database. 2 - 6TB drives to store music. I currently have 933 albums and 12693 tracks. It’s been running flawlessly for me for about 2 years now. It usually uses only about 1% CPU and 7% RAM when playing music. I only have one zone and don’t really use any of the DSP features.
The only thing I might have done different would be to use SSD drives instead of HD. The unit sits in the closet in the room that I usually work in and I can hear the disks if I’m listening. Not loud or annoying but noticeable if it’s quiet.
Many thanks to all of you.
Ok Tony, the number of titles shouldn’t be a problem for Roon. It will take me a few years to get there with my current 6500
Is that no problem with the CPI in this NAS?
Did you install Roon as a Docker or where do you get the installation file from?
I need to read the linked post above, it’s veryyyy long
I set this up before the article that @Wade_Oram referenced was available. I have read through that and it is a great source of more detailed information. I wish it was available when I was getting setup. That said, the knowledge base article might be an easier read.
I think you have mis-attributed the reference. The Roon On NAS article was posted by @DDPS who is pretty much as close as you can get to an authority on Roon On NAS on these forums.
