Roon Radio and format chosen

I am wondering why Roon Radio does not choose the highest definition format from all the versions available. It quite often plays the 16/44 version when many other better ones are available.

This is not really a complaint, more of a matter of curiosity. It has come to my attention at times that I have a 24/192 version of a track and yet Roon radio will be playing a 16/44 or 24/96 from Tidal/Qobuz. Not that I necessarily mind, but I’ve never understood why Roon would both ignore a “higher quality” (not trying to start a debate here) file AND waste bandwidth that takes away from my son’s precious fortnite game. Thanks but I am not sure exactly what this means. All I see is “versions” and there is very often a higher definition version available.

Why does Roon Radio favor streaming?

This is untrue. Roon will play local / higher quality versions if they match. If you are in a situation where you think this is happening, then your local copy lacks an equivalence to the album Roon Radio chose to play from. For example, you might be in this situation if: if your local content is high resolution, but it has not been identified by Roon and populated with metadata. if your local content is from a different edition, print, remastering, etc… basically, if the album has been ide…
