Roon radio irritation

Love Roon radio, most of the time, but what is it about the programming whereby when I play a Canadian song, it predominantly continues to play Canadian songs?

I play Chilliwack-Gone, gone, gone, and the next songs chosen by Roon Radio are:

Takin’ Care of Business- BTO (Canadian band)
Hand Me Down World- The Guess Who (Canadian band)
Emotional Blackmail- Rough Trade (Canadian band)
Where is this Love- The Payolas (Canadian band)
Spaceship Superstar- Prism (Canadian band)
Spooky - Atlanta Rhythm Section (Finally not Canadian!)
Sunny Days - Lighthouse (Canadian band)

I thought the algorithm was programmed to choose similar “styles” of music, but it appears the overarching mandate seems to be dictated by country.

I am not sure if anyone else in other countries have noticed the same. I hope it is not another CRTC regulation (the KGB of Canada)
Yes, I am in Canada.

Haha, like your post!

I see a similar tendency, if i happen to play some swedish tunes when Roon Radio engages i usually get some tunes that are are completely off the chart genre-wise, but they might be from a Swedish artist.

I haven’t noticed any heavy Canadian weight if i play Rush as an example, or Daniel Lanois as i am right now?

I haven’t got your seed in my library, so not much point in trying the same maneouvre though.

Ok, thanks for confirming this behaviour.

Just like you not noticing this happening with a Canadian artist, I tried Abba (sorry  ) - Waterloo, and I don’t see the same country-specific pattern- in the next 10 songs not one of them is Swedish.

So somehow Roon radio must tracks one’s ISP and determines which country they are in? which influences the music choices. So if I use my VPN this won’t happen(?) is the next thing to try.

It would be nice if someone with knowledge from Roon could confirm.
