Roon Radio: play entire album

I don’t mind having a Roon Radio like feature. What I don’t like (really, not at all) is Roon playing random tracks from my albums. This isn’t pop radio. Most of my albums play better… as albums. So, I have disabled Roon Radio, but would reconsider if a “play entire album” feature were added to it.

Thanks,
Nick

Can we have complete albums please?

Where Roon radio each time you change device settings it turns Roon radio on - based on the music I played - in this case piano duo classical- it then randomly plays a big church organ.

I’d vote for that - or at least as a new option to play the entire album (from the beginning).

Perhaps it’s because most of my own (and my Qobuz streamed albums) are Classical, where it doesn’t make a lot of sense [and isn’t very satisfying, to me] to just play one track… and then move on to another album.

For me, Roon Radio is simply a way to sample new music/artist/group, and if I like it/them, I will add the Qobuz album to my ever expanding library… (and often every Hi-Res album they have available).

I am mostly an Album by Album type listener. I recently moved from Plexamp to Roon (thanks to the dropping of Tidal support I got to see Roon! It is awesome) - and one thing that Plexamp did very well is Album Radio.

When selecting Album Radio from an album - it played that album, and queues a sonically similar album after that - and so on and so forth, until you stop the queue. It will look in your library (re-discovery) as well as beyond (discovery).

In Roon - Album radio plays tracks sonically similar to that album, but it is not album based (i.e. it is like Artist or Track radio - but based on an album), which is not ideal if you enjoy the full album as released experience.

Many thanks for reading and hopefully considering.

This is also a huge annoyance to me and has led me to disabling the Roon radio at the end of the queue, which otherwise would be a lovely feature. It’s incredibly bad when you have live versions of albums! Nothing like listening to a 24-bit high res track from an artists to then be dropped into a 2 minute speech prior to the start of a low res live version of the same album.

It’s also pretty obvious that Roon is using metadata not actually sonically analyzing the file for Roon radio based on this happening and it never selecting recorded DJ sets that are not listed in public catalogs… but that is a whole different feature request.

Additionally, some albums the artists have specifically stated they believe are complete works and should only be listened to as a continuous experience, such as Pink Floyd’s Animals and Wish You Were Here. Again, being able to mark an album as “play entirety” similar to “ban this album” would be perfect. Obviously, if one wants to queue up an individual track or place it in a playlist, it shouldn’t be disallowed because of the “only play as album” being set.

Perhaps there should be two options…

Album → “Disable Radio” (Radio ban)
Track → “Partial Performance” (Fine for radio, but queue whole album)

This way you could have Roon radio finish playing Animals, and decide to play all of Wish You Were Here, but then ban Roon radio from choosing Live at Pompei. (as an example)
