Roon Remote no longer works with Tailscale for direct IP connections (ref#GG09PQ)

· I used to be able to use room remote away from home using tailscale, has Roon changed something in the latest build as it no longer works. Arc is not a viable option for me as my library is too big. Roon Remote used to allow direct IP connections without requiring multicast discovery. Has this changed?

· I sue a standard Bt broadband router, a chord qutest and various other Dac's, headphone amps & Genelec active speakers

This isn’t a supported configuration. Roon is designed to operate on a single subnet, and ARC is intended for remote access.

Moving to Tinkering, so community may assist.

Thanks for the response. But that doesnt really answer my question. A simple yes or no & what changed is what I need so I can decide if I need to continue “tinkering” with tailscale or find another solution. If Roon Remote only supports mDNS no amount of tinkering will fix it & I already explained I cant use Arc; my phone runs hot & it constantly crashes.

Something may have changed, but nothing has changed in in the latest update that affects discovery. What you describe can occur.

There are threads on this topic. However, if you provide more information about your setup, others may respond.

TailScale interfering with streaming to Roon endpoints

I run Tailscale in 3 different Roon locations, with Ubuntu Server Roon servers and a variety of endpoints. I’ve had an occasional issue with Roon server or endpoint trying to use their Tailscale IP addresses for discovery, and failing as you describe. I’ve not had that problem in a long while, though, maybe because I taught my Roon servers to give higher priority to LAN routes over the Tailscale ones. There should be something similar for Windows.
