I have Intel NUC with internal ssd m.2 disc is it possible to use the same ssd for internal music storage?
No, that’s not possible. See here:
https://kb.roonlabs.com/Roon_Optimized_Core_Kit
If your NUC supports it you could add another internal hdd or use external or NAS storage. See:
Then can I install rock on an internal ssd drive and use internal m.2 for storage? Because I already bought a big 512 gb m2 ssd =(
I see. Technically it should be possible if you have a NUC which supports additional internal storage. But I’m not sure since I haven’t tried it myself. Let’s see what others say.
Sorry my English is not so good but as I understood from Intel website my NUC7i5BNK can support both ssd SATA and ssd m2 together, am I right?
If it’s this one:
than no - it has no internal drive slot other than M2.
Maybe you can return the large M2.ssd / exchange it?
NUC7i5BNK = small, only space for M.2
NUC7i5BNH = tall, space for M.2 & 2,5” SATA drive (HDD/SSD)
Is it only question of space or connections? Because I can remove the cover for space
Both – it does not have a SATA connection. More info here:
It has the connection, but not the drive tray and it is missing the proprietary SATA power cable.
I stand corrected. Looking more closely at the mainboard nudies in the review I linked to above, the connector is easily spotted indeed.
If the main question here is whether ROCK can run on a suitable NUC with the operating system on an internal 2.5 SSD and music storage on internal M2 SSD, then the answer is yes because I am doing it.
Thanks Paul,
Did you have to alter the boot priority in BIOS ?
I can’t answer that unfortunately, as the person I bought the used NUC5i5 from was kind enough to set Roon up on it before sending it to me, so I never needed to check the bios. I just needed to add the codecs. I only later realised it was using a 2.5 SSD when I learned a bit more about NUCs. However, when i subsequently added a 1TB M2 SSD it was immediately recognised as storage.
