For the main ROON software is there any way to show high-res albums and their bit rate for QOBUZ on the main page? Seems like a really blatant oversight… there’s got to be a way to see that important distinction other than physically looking at the audio trace?
For Roon ARC is there any way to play my DSD / DTS CD files? Sadly for regular Roon it won’t work with my Oppo because they didn’t have enough time to certify for that…apparently…but I see an express DSD subsection that sounds like it should convert DSD to PCM and play via my (Samsung) phone to say a Bluetooth speaker. But I can’t figure out how to do it if it’s possible…
Well answered at least part of my own second question. It does play DSD in DSF format but I forgot and I carefully cultivated all my original discs for my main library. Yes I happen to know what DVD-Audio & SACD is and collected about a hundred of the best ones of each at the brief time they were available. I recently carefully cultivated all my SACD to ISO for major convenience…but ROON sadly cannot handle those. J River can so maybe there’s future hope?
Go to Roon Settings > General and configure the information you want to see for each album in the overview on Library > My Albums. The resolution is one of the options
You need an external USB DAC that supports DSD. Then enable the USB driver in the ARC settings. The built-in DAC of phones generally does not have DSD support
Roon and Roon ARC will play DSD to any DAC that supports the format (IIRC, .dsf is preferred, but that may be because it carries metadata). You don’t need a Roon Tested DAC for playback.
Moreover, you can set the playback strategy for each device to use DoP, convert to PCM etc. (if the device supports DSD. Otherwise, Roon will convert to PCM.
With ARC, you can also play DSD, but this depends on playback mode (see settings), and whether you have a DAC connected to the mobile.
