Trying to connect to Roon ARC using my iPhone.

Description of Issue -

What is the exact port forwarding error message you see in the Roon Settings → ARC tab?

Roon app on my Mac shows that Roon ARC is ‘ready’ and that my Roon server was automatically configured and has been confirmed to be securely accessible by Roon ARC. However, the Roon ARC app on my iPhone lets me log into my Roon account then just spins on the “searching for Roon Core…” screen.

I have so far:

  1. Unifi router

    • set up a port forwarding rule for 55000/tcp to connect to the Roon server (192.168.1.76)
    • tried with/without UPNP set up on the internet screen (and NAT-PNP)
  2. Ubuntu server

  • configured firewall rules for ports 9003/udp (from 192.168.1.0/24), 9100:9200/tcp (anywhere), 55000/tcp (anywhere),
  • tried with/without the firewall enabled
  • disabled IPv6 on the server completely
  • set a static IP of 192.168.1.76

Roon (inside the house using Roon remote and playing on speakers) works flawlessly. It’s only Roon ARC which doesn’t seem to want to connect, either on the local LAN or externally on 5G or other Wifi networks.

Have you tried emptying the cache of Roon on your phone and then restart the app?

Thanks very much! I hadn’t thought of doing that…

What I ended up doing was deleting the Roon Arc app from my iPhone, restarting my phone, then re-installing the app. Works perfectly now!

I’m not quite sure why this worked, but it did!

Thanks everyone for the help, support and advice!
