Roon Server for QNAP (x64) is officially available in the QNAP AppCenter!

What is the changelog / update?

QNAP Changelog

Whilst waiting for QNAP to re-approve the installer … it can be manually download …

Setting up a QNAP Raid array using TS-433 with QTS 5.2.7.3256 Firmware. The install fails. The error log says: Failed to install Roon Server 2023-03-07. The installation Package is incompatible.
Is there an updated package in the works?

There are (currently) no (known of) plans to make Roon Server run on incompatible hardware (ARM 4-Core Cortex-A55). See also:

When I first purchased my Lifetime Roon I installed and briefly used Roon Server on my QNAP TVS-672X NAS (32gb) it worked fine but I decided to repurpose a NUC and it did the job for a couple of years. But the NUC started behaving like it was about to fail so I recently returned to a Roon Server installation on my NAS.

In the intervening time I made changes to my system chain, like installing an Intel E10G42BFSR SFP+ network card in my NAS and added a Matrix Audio SS-1 Pro audio grade network switch.

This time around I created a RAID 1 using the two 500gb Samsung 980 Pro M2 SSDs already in my system to install Roon Server (yes, absolute overkill for Roon Server but they were already installed). The improved fiber pathway from Roon Server to my Holo Audio Red is a quantum leap over the SQ that the NUC was delivering. The meager i5 CPU doesn’t impact me because I don’t use DSP and my entire library is DSD512, stored as DSF files (the CPU doesn’t have to unpack anything) and I’m not doing DOP; I use native DSD playback, sending the raw DSD bitstream directly to my Holo Audio Red.

I couldn’t be happier about returning to Roon Server on my QNAP. I really appreciate the collaboration between the Roon Team and Chris Rieke on delivering and maintaining Roon Server.

This is actually not a meager Core i5 but a pretty capable one. Perfect for roon, even if you have a bigger library or challenging formats/DSP.

Congrats!
