Roon setup cannot find the internal network share ssd in my Roon ready device

I have installed a 4 TB SSD in my (Roon ready) Electrocompaniet ECM-1.

Now I want to add this drive to the Roon storage.

Trying different addresses (IP only, IP+internal folders etc.), no solution works. Roon does not accept this drive responding “path not found” or “unexpected error”. How can I add this network share to Roon?

You need to add the share name and potentially Username. You might have to read the ECM-1 documentation to find out what that is.

Keep in mind, that if you are going to play music stored on the ECM-1 back on the ECM-1 using Roon, you will be adding a lot of extra network traffic since the music file will have to be streamed to the RoonServer first, and converted to raw PCM and then sent back to the ECM-1.

Music files should be kept local to the RoonServer, not, the endpoint.

Many thanks for this important feedback. This means that I will install the SSD in the Roon Nucleus as soon as it will be available again. Currently you cannot get it in Germany :frowning:
