Roon slows down, skips, gets static then stops when playing to Devialet 400, not other endpoints

Hi @Adam_Crafton1,

You’re long overdue for a response here, and we’d like to apologize for the oversight.

The team has conferred with development regarding your issue. We’ve narrowed down a few possible culprits, but there are some network topology and Roon settings tests that will help identify whether the failure is within the Nucleus or a networking component. In any case, we’ll stay with you until we resolve the issue entirely.

Should your patience allow, please let us know if you can try the following, and describe any change in symptoms you experience:

  1. From post history, it’s our understanding that the Nucleus is hardwired to a switch, rather than the UDM router itself.

    • First off, while you’ve mentioned that you investigated this before, please confirm: do you have any QoS settings in place that could inadvertently deprioritize Roon and its processes on the network? You can either prioritize the Nucleus static IP or turn these off entirely for troubleshooting. Recent diagnostics show network issues that are possibly resulting from deprioritization of the Nucleus.
    • Secondly, are you able to hardwire the Nucleus directly to the main router for testing?
    • Are you able to hardwire the affected Devialet endpoint to the main router as well?
    • If not, is it possible to hardwire the Devialet and the Nucleus to the same unmanaged switch?
  2. There are known issues with search for which development is busy merging a fix. You should see significant improvement with search and RoonServer performance in the next several releases.

  3. Can you confirm the storage location for your local library? You’ve mentioned that it’s on Nucleus internal storage in previous posts.

  4. If you disable streaming services entirely and test playback for a few tracks, do you see any improvement?

  5. Lastly, we want to verify whether you’ve at any point experienced dropouts/slow media times with different endpoints. Available diagnostics show significant network disruption affecting multicast, remote connection, Airplay, Chromecast, and networked endpoints. Roon can recover from most cases without symptoms to the user, but we want to simplify the network as much as possible for testing.

We’ll be watching for your response more closely. Thank you!
