Why aren’t the latest albums on Qobuz available in Roon?
When you’re browsing Qobuz in Roon, you’re seeing Roon’s Qobuz database, not a direct pass-through of what’s shown on Qobuz – that’s why there’s so much more metadata, like recording dates, lyrics, links to composers, credits, etc.
This is also why Roon can sometimes be slightly behind Qobuz when a brand new release comes out – our database is generated daily, but sometimes a new album will just barely miss the cutoff and will show up in a day or two.
When this happens you can add the new release directly in the Qobuz app. It will then appear in your Roon library.
I understand the database issue but in my opinion they missed the drop. If an album comes out Friday and you don’t have it until Sunday you missed it. That’s what I mean by missing releases.
None of us should have to go into a native app to check for new releases. And no way should it take more than 24hrs to appear on my feed. This album came out Friday at like midnight so I missed out on Friday and Saturday night spins. For us that use Roon in bars/pubs/etc it’s a bit of a fail.
I love Roon, I’d just like them to try a bit harder in that regard, it’s not great, especially if it’s a consistent problem.
I agree with you. For what it’s worth this is the first time I’ve had a new album release in my time with roon where this happened—I even made qobuz and tidal playlists of just the album, made them favorites in tidal etc and still roon saw it as not existing. It was unfortunate but mostly just frustrating that I couldn’t get roon to see the album. Oh well. I’ll leave feedback and maybe they will improve in the future.
I added manually in the ways people told me to, by adding to favorites in tidal or qobuz or by making a playlist of the album and none of that worked. For this specific case, none of the suggested workarounds worked.
Various versions of this album are now available for streaming in Roon via Qobuz and KKBox. We’ve reached out to TIDAL to find out why we’ve not yet received metadata from them for this album.
