Roon vs Tidal : DAC volume difference

The music playback in Roon is significantly quieter than in the native Tidal app.
I’ve already checked the obvious settings: volume leveling is turned off, headroom management is off, and exclusive mode is enabled.
Despite this, Roon still sounds noticeably weaker at the same DAC volume.
Does anyone have an idea what else could be causing this?

Can you post a screenshot of Roon’s signal path, this will help to see if there is anything else happening to the digital signal.

I suspect this will confirm that Roon is streaming a bit perfect signal to the DAC.

So after that consider what the Tidal app might be doing to the signal.

I think you are on to something … on this album the dot is glowing yellow. Where it glows purple the sound is allright… maybe because that album is 320mbps source I don’t know . If you know the trick I’d be very grateful (but most of the songs glow violet - which is good )

The Signal path shows that you are playing a local file. In that case, any volume/level/dynamic range differences between the local file and a Tidal stream have nothing to do with Roon.

I am such a noob. I have a million files (downloaded millennia ago), I forgot that Roon shows them first :frowning: problem solved thank you

You are also playing a 320kbps file. A compressed MP3
I would just delete all mp3s and play your tidal files
