Roon, where to use NAS, and more questions

Hi to all,

Maybe i have some strange questions;
But maybe it could do something (or not).

I use Roonrock.

My setup; Fritzbox, meraki ms220 8, fiber, meraki ms220 8, cambridge cxn v2

  1. where is the best place to use a NAS?

in the same switch (last switch)where the streamer is hooked on?
Or in the beginning of the network?

  1. has anybody ever tried to attach the NUC with Roonrock directly to the streamer? Over usb or over lan?

There are devices for internet to usb, maybe it sounds better when the nuc is directly attached to streamer.
But you need a nuc with 2 internet ports.
One for incomming, one for out(streamer).

I don’t know, maybe this a strange stuppid question…

What i do know is that my system sound better when i use the nuc with roonrock on my last switch, and not in the Fritzbox…
The closer roonrock is to my streamer the better it sounds…

In theory a network is just that, router , switch ports are all equal so it shouldn’t make any difference , as long as your Ethernet runs are sensible, <100m

Everything is digital at this point and should be equal

If you perceive it better then go for it

I would put the NUC and NAS on the same switch and hide them
