Hi @stackptr ,
Configuring the Linux firewall may be a bit trickier than just adding the specific ports, as Roon can use randomized ports. In the past, other user have been able to configure their firewall with the below guides, can you please let us know if this helps?
Hey, I got Roon Server to run on Fedora as an unprivileged user (not root) with SELinux and firewall enabled. My post about it seemed quite popular. I don’t know if anyone is using the Roon Firewalld rule that I crafted.
But now it’s broken; in order for my Roon remote on Android to connect to Roon Core, I have to disable the firewall (sudo systemctl stop firewalld). There’s a more recent thread about “Firewall Settings ” that’s grayed out and ends with @Geoff_Coupe saying
Please note that the…
I might enable firewall on my Ubuntu desktop where my Roon server is installed. The instructions for Linux install mention firewall settings.
But they are referred to a somewhat cryptic for me post:
Can anyone please post the commands that would enable broadcast rules in Ubuntu’s firewall? I think I know how to open ports but I don’t know what to do with the broadcast/multicast rules. I think Ubuntu uses some “simple firewall” by default, not iptables.
