Thanks for your reply @gTunes, yes this is exactly the behavior and that’s a bummer. I’ll need to consider that option. Very helpful and much appreciated.
Thanks for your warning but this is not an issue here
The Battery is a Lipo with wires and a connector already attached. The connector has to be replaced so heat is only applied to the wires and not to the battery itself.

Ahhh, apologies, I understand. I’ve had my share of battery soldering incidents is all.
Enjoy the rest of the holiday, but it’s not clear you understand the meaning of the word
Perhaps this is also a good solution: a solder seal wire connector. Is there anyone with experience with this?
For anyone following and thanks to @DrCWO - I managed to get things working properly with my Nuimo. Two things I did in succession that helped:
- Re-imaged my RPI that was running rooPlay & RooNuimo. - That helped with the issues I was having with the Nuimo (this OP) - at least for now mainly — dropping the extensions and trouble waking up. Unfortunately, I was still getting some dropouts with rooPlay (another issue). CDs would play for a short time then stutter, eventually eject. I don’t know nor did I find the root cause… But,
- I bought a new RPI with more memory and now have that one with rooPlay (added a Roo6D for CD controls) and another (old RPI) for just the rooNuimo.
It’s all been running well all day and I’m pretty happy with it. Thank you @DrCWO - I will let you know if I run into issues. CD control is working great with my Roo6D.
Is there any guide on how to open up the Nuimo to get at the battery…don’t what to be destructive if I can help it
There’s a post towards the top of this very-long thread:
Using HA has a rather steep learning curve, but it’s a wonderful piece of software. It has allowed me to get in control of my heating pump which has resulted in allot higher efficiency.
It would be awesome to be able to control certain other home domotica stuff like lighting scenes with the Nuimo! But also more relevant, it would allow me to use the Nuimo with Lightning DS, which is the controlling software for AURALiC hardware!
Very much +1
@DrCWO I got the rooExtendBox and already got an watch and nuimo license. As the test period for all extensions is over now I wanted to activate my extensions.
I have been able to activate the rooWatch successfully, but when I try to activate my nuimo license the system log of the my extendBox says ‘This license key has already been used and cannot be used again.’
What do I have to do to activate my nuimo?
Thanks,
Wolfgang
Please send me the license Key as PM and I will look into ist.
Please also mail me the System Log to info@definiteaudio.de

Today I noticed my Nuimo is not connecting. In the extension screen the Nuimo option flashes on and off. Restarts of pi or Nuimo does not revolve.
Sorry for the inconvenience
Yes, I had a bug in the v3.1.0 release but this is already fixed.
Either you wait till tomorrow for the automatic install of the update at night or you open the configuration page of your rooExtend Pi (http://[IP of your PI]) and click on “Look for Software updates”

Thanks for the bug update in relation to Nuimo.
Hi @Eric_Peters,
you have to enter the rooNuimo License Key in the License Manager. After that rooNuimo will become visible in Roon Settings/Extensions. It will pair automatically with the Nuimo.
The Antenna is recognized automatically and will be used if it is connected.
If you still have trouble pleas e-Mail me your System Log. I also have to know.
- Which Pi?
- Wired or Wifi
- What release of rooExtend got used
Best DrCWO
rooExtend release: v3.1.1
Device: Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W Rev 1.0 (Wifi Only)
I know it pairs automatically, because it works perfectly with build-in BT antenna. However, the range is very limited, just 5 meters or so.
When I plug in the ZEXMTE (after reset to factory defaults) I cannot get it to work anymore. I cannot plug in the USB stick and the BT antenna at the same time, simply because I do not have enough ports on the Pi Zero 2W.
Just do it one after another.
- Boot with the USB-Stick after a fresh install of the image. The rooNuimo License Key get restored and the rooNuimo Roon Extension should be visible after that.
- Next Power of the Pi
- Insert the Antenna
- Power on the Pi
The rooNuimo License key should still be at its place (rooNuimo visible) and the antenna should work.
Please again send me after this procedure your system log (please to info@definiteAudio.de, no logs in the forum ) so I can see if the antenna is active.

Hello,
Sorry if it is not the right place to post, but I’ve searched everywhere else.
I’m looking for a nuimo senic… but I can’t find where to buy one. I know it’s discontinued, so I’m looking for a second hand to use with roonomio.
If someone knows how I can get one, please write me in private !
Thanks a lot ! Have a good day
The good doctor sometimes post’s where he finds one for sale, keep an eye on this thread and hopefully you will get lucky.
I managed to get mine just at the time that RooNuimo was released. Ended up buying a second one and been very happy with the solution
Hello,
I just bought the Numio and Rasberry via http://www.hoerzone.de/ and the extension to make it work.
The rooNumio extension is a fantastic setup, it is incredibly plaisant to be able to manage the level of sound while listening (+ other possible functionalities). Thank you very much.
One little caveat that appears through the exchanges in this forum is inherent to bluetooth range. If the raspberry is close strictly no problem. If the range is above 5m or not in sight the connection is often lost.
To improve this I bought the Zexmte adapter :
https://www.amazon.fr/dp/B09MZ8715D/ref=emc_bcc_2_i
I’m sorry but I do not see any improvement.
I think I followed the instructions by rebooting the raspberry after I have plugged the antenna.
Is there any thing I’m missing ?
They are 4 USB port on the Raspberry, do they make any difference ?
Thank you for your help.
I’d like to emphasized that I try to improve an already very great experience.
Best
Vincent
Please tell me what release of rooExtend you use v3.0.x? You should.
As Bluetooth and WiFi use the same 2.4GHz range they interfere and this may decrease the distance you can bridge with Bluetooth. This is especially true in downtown environments with many WiFi.
Please try to get a USB extension cable and connect the antenna via this cable with the Raspberry. Also put the antenna away half a meter from the Pi. This may improve things.
With this setup I bridge about 10m in my home.
