I have been successfully using ropieee on a Pi4 with a TP-Link antenna (shows up as Realtek 802.11ac NIC in the interface).
When I updated to 2025.06 it hung up on loading and I ended up reflashing and getting it to work with the antenna.
With the latest 2025.08 I seem to not be able to get it to work and had another hang on install. I have refreshed to 2025.08.2 but continue to have issues.
Is there an issue that will prevent this from working or is there something I can do to resolve it? With the on board wi-fi I have a weak signal (-70 db) so I need a solution that provides a stronger signal.
Yeah, most of the times these issues stem from the fact that the driver is so-called ‘out-of-tree’ and added by me to the kernel. And that results in a ‘hit-or-miss’ with respect to its function.
I took another Pi4, hooked it up to ethernet, flashed it to 202.08.2 and then enabled wireless with the Realtek driver. While it was still connected to ethernet I could see it was also connected to wifi. I installed that card in the Pi4 that was not responding and got it to work. So I am operational now. Now I have an acceptable signal strength of -64 dB
Thank you and if there is any info I can provide to help with improvements I would be glad to help
