Ropieee with Plexamp: couldn't start playback

Hello everyone,

SET-UP:
Raspberry 4 Mod B, 4 GB ram
Hifiberry Digi+ DAC
Plexserver ran on OMV in a container (run on a separate server)

For some reason my headless Plexamp setup won’t play any files that are on my docker ran-plex server (Couldn’t start playback)
When I open plexamp from my android or desktop pc I can play the exact same file just fine without any problem. I can switch between those two with the cast icon, but the headless plexamp doesn’t show up as an ‘casting option’ neither.
My playback device is set to the Hifiberry DAC (settings Plexamp)
When I try to take control of the song that is already playing on one of the other options (android or desktop) with the dropdown arrow, the screen stays black on the IP.adress:32500

I have tried the headless plexamp install with the following link, with a clean Pi install,:

So I thought perhaps it had to do something with the repo, so I tried RoPieee. Started a new clean install but the problem persists.
In both cases I was able to open the IP.adress:32500 without any problem, the library is browsable and searchable. The only problem is that files just won’t play (Couldn’t start playback).

So then I thought that maybe there was a problem with my Hifiberry Digi+ standard DAC output. I tried the Spotify-service in RoPieee and the berry was found without any problem and was it was able to actually play sound. And on top of that it used to work a few weeks back.

I’m not a regular user of the Berry-plexamp set-up but earlier this week I noticed that the Berry was no longer found as a casting medium.
I thought that it might have something to do with updates but the problem remains after applying the updates (I had the OdinB-headless setup). A few weeks back I was able to get the set-up working just fine.

All of this together makes me think of two possible problems: my Plex-server doesn’t allow files to be played though the IP.adress:32500 OR there is a problem with the Plexamp-software.

I hope someone can help me out here because it’s driving me nuts

I have had this playback issue from time to time, although my Ropieee always is shown as a cast target for Plexamp. Try rebooting your Pi, then going to the Pi’s Plex instance, then settings, playback, and change the audio input to default, and then back to your DAC. This always works for me. The equivalent of “jiggling the cord”.. Hope that helps.
