I have a working image of Roopiee XL that works just fine as a Roon Brodge and also as an Airplay target.

I wanted to build a little boom box based around this build and ideally wanted a hardware volume control (a.k.a a volume knob).

My Pi3 is fitted with a IQaudiO Digiamp+ - which if I run diet-pi will run a rotary encoder after making some documented tweaks to the Raspbian OS to allow me to control volume directly with a knob.

As Ropieee is a sealed operating system I don’t seem to be able to make the same changes - anyone have any idea of this is possible?

What’s keeping you from ruining DietPi, Roon bridge and your encoder with tweaks?

Pretty likely, there’s the possibility to get airplay running also.

Have tried and failed. Hence adopting the more “ready to go out of the box” approach with Ropieee
