Running Plexamp Using Tailscale

I recently set up ARC to run with Tailscale and thought it would be a good idea to have my backup music service available in the same way. This is what I did to get it working.

  1. In Plex server Settings → Remote Access, click on Disable Remote Access.
  2. Under Settings → Network, Custom Server Access URLs enter your server’s Tailscale IP, i.e., https://<tailscale-ip>/:32400.

That’s all.

You don’t even need Tailscale if you enable the relay connection. For music it’s perfectly fine. Video is bandwidth restricted.
