sample rate conversion section

For some time now, roughly since the DSP environment was called Muse, I’ve been surprised that my comparison platform based on Logitech Media Server sounds much better than Roon on the same hardware. Since then I hardly listen to Roon at all. But now I noticed why this is the case: Even if the slide switch for sample rate conversion is set to disabled, the filter settings (precise linear phase etc.) change the sound. It is already suspicious that the audio is muted briefly when switching the filters. Why if the whole section is disabled?! There must have been a really big bug here!!!
A friend is still using the old version before ARC was introduced. The slide switch apparently still disables everything there.
I’m talking about build 1311 on Debian 11

Just tested to verify my experience, and it’s definitively not like that with a Roon server build 1311 on Win11 here!
Changing things within disabled sections of MUSE don‘t pause the stream, nor do they change the sound.
EDIT: see my correction below @Simon_Arnold3‘s post (thanks for correcting me!)

I even find it hard to believe, that an install on a different OS does err in this regard.
You probably also rebooted your server and retested?

Have no clue what could be causing that, but it‘s definitively not normal…

Actualy it does pasue on ROCK, if you change the filter setting and sample rate and all other DSP settings are disabled. Cant say it sounds any different with it set to any .

The same thing happens in my system, but only if the “Automatically apply settings” setting is ON.
If both you and your friend have this setting set the same, then it means that something has really changed between the two Roon versions.

However, to change the sound when modifying the DSP parameters even when the DSP is OFF is not something normal (that is, it is a bug).

Oops, have to correct my post, as I hastily only tested the Sample rate conversion setting…but the sound still doesn‘t change when changing the Sample rate conversion filter, but I reckon that that‘s only my perception through head phones in this case, not measured…

In fact, if the “Automatically apply settings” is ON, then the sound is not interrupted only when changing the filter settings, but when changing any parameter on the screen.

Okay just tested with an MQA file I have to my Fiio M11 plus which is full MQA decoder renderer. Set the deivce to have no MQA support so I can apply DSP to it as otherwise its passing through untouched (is this new as it never used to be like this) Upsampling on breaks MQA as its no longer bit perfect transfer to the Fiio as upsampling. Disable upsampling. Fiio sees incoming as MQA and decodes and renders fully. If I switch the filters get pause but MQA is still showing as it should this proves no DSP is being applied and it cant sound any different which makes sense as filters are only used and applied when upsmpling is in play. Why the engine still pauses when its disabled is the way its been designed I feel. And if automatically Apply is set to off no pause and no change in SQ, amazing what a pause can do to change ones perspective as what we hear. How wierd the brain can be.
