"Select all" "CTRL+A" not working .... since a long time

In the past, it was possible to select all artists in a section (for example in the credits page of an album, or in the results of a search) by selecting one item and then pressing CTRL+A.
This does not work anymore (i can’t say since when… it’s a long time though…)

Now, if you want to select more items, you have to manually select them one by one. and it can be very annoying.

In my case, i use to tag group of artists with specific roon tags, and the “select all” funcition was extremely usefull for massive tagging purposes.

Is this not a thing on Windows remote?

I don’t know if Ctrl+A ever worked in these situations and I am not quite sure what to use it for. However, maybe it helps to know that on PC remotes you don’t have to manually select them one by one. This is for Windows, don’t know how it is on Mac but most likely something similar:

  1. Select the first artist from the range with a right mouse click
  2. Press and hold the Shift key
  3. Left- or right-click the last artist in the range you want to select

You can deselect individual artists from the selected range by clicking them.

You can also select 2 or more individual ranges together:

  1. Right-click the first artist in the first range
  2. Press and hold Shift
  3. Left- or right-click the last artist in the first range you want to select. (The first range is now selected)
  4. Release the Shift key
  5. Left- or right-click the first artist in the second range you want to select
  6. Press and hold Shift
  7. Left- or right-click the last artist in the second range you want to select. (The first and second ranges are now selected)

On mobile remotes I guess that you do have to tap each one to add to the selection.

I note that in track lists, where Ctrl+A definitely should work, there is a “Select” menu top left if you select one item, and you can choose Select All from there. And Ctrl+A also works.

In the scenarios you described, there is no such menu (it just says “1 selected”). Meaning that IF this worked before, it’s probably not just the Ctrl+A that disappearead but the whole Select All functionality. (However as mentioned at the start, I don’t know what it would be good for)

Yes, for albums or tracks for instance, but not for all artists under credits or in search results as the OP expected rightly or wrongly

It’s a life saver. Enjoy

@Niccolo_Terzi by the way, the right-click is a Roon specialty but it works very similarly elsewhere in Windows/MacOS, e.g. in File Explorer or Finder, also worth googling if you don’t know.

Ctrl+A works in almost every page I’ve tested it in. It does not work in the Credits section under an album, and I’m not sure it ever did. Any page where it is a combination of different views Ctrl+A won’t work (which the Credits screen under an Album now is since 1.8). However, for pages other than that Credits screen, such as Search Results, or sections on the Home screen, if you go to the actual full view usually using the MORE button, Ctrl+A will work.

For example,

On the home screen, New Releases For You, Singles, you can’t Ctrl+A, however, if you go to the More button and see the full view, and then Ctrl+A will work.

Other example,

Search on Elton, go to results page. Ctrl+A won’t work, but select the More button under Artists and it will work on the full Artists Search Results page

Huh, in search results suddenly it works for me as well, including showing the selection menu. Maybe I was being blind or dumb earlier. Thx

Including here:

Ctrl+A works but you first have to select at least one artist with the mouse. Then it’s there

This makes sense because by selecting you decide what the Ctrl+A should be applied to, the artists, albums, tracks, etc., from the search results.
