Are the 10gtek media converters a suitable choice for this application (used with the Finisar transceivers), or do folks have other recommendations?
I am not sure about use for use in a Lumin streamer but I have hundreds of 10gtek sfp and sfp+ adapters in my corporate enterprise network and they have been pretty flawless over several years.
Good prices as well, and I always keep spares just in case
If the price difference is not much, you may also consider unmanaged SFP switches like this:

We have not tested this switch with Finisar though.
Thanks for the suggestion.
Media converter is $20, switch $55. Iāll give the 10gtek a runā¦if it doesnāt work well, I can send it back to Amazon and try the switch.
I tried to buy the components recommended on the Lumin site, but they were not available on Amazon.ca After some research I purchased some other relatively cheap stuff on Amazon.ca 10Gtek SFP Transceivers⦠Combined with a Dlink Switch and CableMatters optical cable, it all works well and Iām happy!

Iāve had that exact 10Gtek transceiver in my Cisco 2960 switch for 1.5 years. No problems with it at all.
Great info
I have a Lumin X1 and for storage a Lumin L2 (8TB) .
The L2 is connected to my switch (SOTM) with a 3 m orange 10G SFP set (Amazon).
The X1 is connected to the L2 with a 50 cm orange 10G SFP set.
No problems with the 10G sets and audio quality not different from my former Finisar coupled X1 only.
Are they 1G modules from 10Gtek brand? Or 10G modules?
More often that not 10G modules usually do not work on Lumin products.

Hello Peter, your comment is correct. Maybe the solution is the total combination offered by 10Gtek. As far as I can see the cable is 10G. The former connexion to the X1 was the tiny 2 core cable with 2 separate 1,25G Finisar modules. The 10Gtek is a fixed combination of a cable and 2 modules. The SOTM switch has 2 SFP ports for 10G. Hereby a copy of my purchase. I hope that this info is usefull for you.
Youāll appreciate this is not a optical solution as discussed earlier in the posts, right? Cheers.
I have tried quite a few transceiverās with my X1 in the past, and settled on the Finisar FTLF1324P2BTL as my favorite.
