Please forgive if this has been addressed before, but if so, I couldn’t find it.
My Jeff Rowland Aeris DAC’s USB input is limited to 24/96. So for 24/192 files on Qobuz, am I better off limiting Qobuz streams to 24/96 upstream from Roon or letting Roon do the downsampling before sending to the DAC?
Thank you… may I ask what your rationale is? To reduce CPU processing in the core?
Sorry, I neglected to mention that I also have two other Roon-Ready devices in other rooms, which do process 24/192 streams. So letting Roon do the downsampling just for the Rowland DAC would still allow 24/192 streams to the other two devices. Not sure if that changes your guidance.
In that case let Roon do it. But in all honesty it would be hard to tell the difference if you sent 24/96 to the 24/192 dacs unless they were different masters.
If you are grouping them then you have to send the same to everything. If you are using the different endpoint separately, then, they can all have a differing resolution sent to them.
