Show us your concert tickets

looks like a good place for this concert.
I also saw her 3 years ago in an old church (but a small village church)
Nice music to totally sink in

it was a nice venue - the acoustics were good and they had a bar - All boxes checked as far as I’m concerned! It was originally scheduled for the Fremont Abbey which is much smaller, but also nice - I guess they sold enough tickets to move it over to St Marks - It didn’t seem sold out, but there was good amount of folks in there - Happy for her!

Took my little brother cough 50, to this last night. He hasn’t seen a show since 2002?!? I can’t even comprehend that idea. The opening act of Moodie Black had him looking at me like I am insane, scream industrial rap that was waaaaay too loud. They may be okay at a reasonable level? The lead singer is very into the show.

Today he was listening to Puscifer’s latest asking . . . did I know

Double thumbs way up.
It was an amazing production.

I found this historical relict on the net.
Unfortunately, I wasn’t there myself because my birth wasn’t fully completed yet.
8 DM (Deutsche Mark) are 4$ (or 4€) today.
Not a bad price for Jimi

Billy Strings last weekend in Portland, OR - we went both nights, but just one ticket to show - big fun!

Yesterday I was able to experience Nik Bärtsch solo. Amazing what sounds the man can conjure up from a Steinway D grand piano.
A great evening with an impressive musician.

Here’s a few from my box of tricks.
I think maybe I have less than 50% of the shows I have attended since the mid to late seventies.
Wish I had kept everything

Nice
I was a big fan of the stone roses rave sound, must be a fun concert.

Where was that show, @Kelly_Burkhart? I think I saw the same tour in Santa Cruz. Some great Reggae acts toured mid to late 80s.

[Found the record of the show I saw…was “Reggaefest 8” in 1988].

The show was at The Bottleneck in Lawrence Kansas.

Amazing thread. Such a great collection of music history. I never got around many concerts being a clubber in my heyday. I always prefered the all night club experience (Ecstacy played a huge part, of course) to going to a venue for a few hours and I never really felt connected with being at a gig.

Best gig I ever attended was Velvet Underground at Wembley Area on their last tour. The air was thick with weed and hash and there was a feeling of something magic yet final and historic.

I’l post up a couple of stubs of Bjork concerts I loved… when I can find them!

Yes ! I got to see them at the Matt Groening edition of the ATP festival in 2010. I spotted them out and about in the crowd taking photos on the Saturday afternoon and spent a good few minutes stood next to them… star struck. I always wonder what they made of the location of an old English holiday camp. It was a very young crowd and I don’t think they really knew what to make of them.

Last summer, after 2 bad years of covid lockdown, it was so nice there! That’s why I already got the current festival ticket, which allows access to all 5 stages, 30 concerts.
From Friday to Sunday evenings, we hopefully will enjoy great music in different locations, super nice people, delicious meals, all on the beach with sunny weather again.

Great idea for a thread, and I had to dig out some old tickets and reminisce a bit. These are some of my favourites. Top to bottom, left to right.

The Pogues - I saw them twice over a couple of years. One of the concerts had Joe Strummer doing vocals as Shane was in rehab. Joe did a great job, but Shane is just Shane, like no other.

The Smiths This concert was in Ann Arbor during Homecoming weekend I believe. Memory is a little hazy on this one, but I do remember the concert was great.

Jane Siberry A local Canadian artist (she went to Uni close by). An amazing singer and lyricist, a little too offbeat for the mainstream. I was very lucky in that a local public TV station did a recording of this concert series, and I’m able to go back and rewatch this when I like.

Daniel Lanois Another local Canadian talent. His first recording studio was about an hour from my house. The Maryhill tavern was a local pub that promoted a lot of local talent and was always willing to take a chance on a band. Daniel did this concert as a favour to the owner of the Maryhill. An amazing night. If you only know his work as a producer, check out some of his stuff - Acadie is still one of my favourite albums

The Clash - definitely on the back side of the power curve for this band but it was still a fun venue to see them. I can’t remember who was still in the band at this point, but for sure either Joe or Mick wasn’t there.

New Order - This goes down as the worst concert that I have ever attended (still) and I loved New Order. 45 minutes of totally uninvolved playing and they walked off with no encore. Spectacular.

Echo & The Bunnymen. They got hung up by Canadian customs at Windsor, and almost didn’t make it in time. Came onstage around midnight, and played an amazing set. I got a chance to see them at the Filmore in San Fran a few years ago and they still have it.

Violent Femmes - Their first Canadian concert and there couldn’t have been more than 40 of us there. This was my first of many Femmes concerts, and still one of my most memorable

Thanks for letting me take a walk down memory lane
