Roon runs on a NUC. Music and Data on a Synology DS415. Listening everywhere in the house but mainly with High end McIntosh equipment. Link streaming to McIntosh via Auralic Aris. All works super fine. Weakest element is Auralic because of Network signals (loses often IP connection). I simply do not understand why McIntosh is not making all their stream equipment Roon-ready. anyway, congratulations to ROON people. this is truely a very solid, outstanding solution!
Love the room!
We all hate you…in the nicest possible way
Looks rather bare in there tho…hope you have some room treatments somewhere there
Continuing the discussion from Showing (off) your Roon setup - description and photos:
I use Roon in three (3) different ways, two (2) Headphones and one Speaker system.
All the setups use the same sources however, the signal path differs slightly.
Sources: Roon (lifetime) with Tidal and Qobuz Hifi subscriptions.
Audio Server | Roon - Nucleus
Roon Remote | iPad, MacBook Pro and iPhone Xs
Reclocker | Mutec - MC-3+USB
Network | SOtM - sNH-10G - sCLK-EX - Evox Cap - 7NUPOCC - eABS-200
Headphones | Meze Audio - Empyrean and Bose - QC35
Headphone Amps | Chord - Hugo2 and Oppo - HA-2
Speakers System | 2 x Devialet - Phantom Gold, Dialog with a remote
Cables | AudioQuest Cinnamon - RJ/Ethernet, USB, Toslink
Power | SOtM - sPS-1000 | ISOTEK Sirius
Power Cables | AudioQuest - Monsoon, NRG-Z3, Nordost Purple Flare
The Nucleus feed the Mutec Via JitterBug and USB Cable
The Phantom Golds are fed by optical link via the Mutec.
The Hugo2 are fed from the Mutec via Coax and drive the Empyreans
The HA-2 are fed from the Nucleus via USB (only used when sound quality does not matter and I need the Noise cancelation)
The sNH-10G is galvanically isolated from the Router via fiber cable
The Nucleus and sNH-10G is powered from the SOtM - sPS-1000 via 7N PCOCC Silver Cables
All Mains power is supplied via the Sirius and cables are AudioQuest - Monsoon, NRG-Z3, Nordost Purple Flare
Thanks to the Roon team for a great product.
Thank you to the community that shares their amazing system with us.
My home office setup:
- Lumin D2 DAC/Streamer w/upgraded linear power supply.
- Schiit Jountheim desktop pre-amp + headphone amp.
- Audioquest NightOwl Carbon closed-back headphones w/custom balanced cables.
- Emotiva Stealth 8 powered speakers.
All balanced cables and connections. Roon on Linux server with a 2 TB library, plus Qobuz subscription. Outstanding setup.
At work I use a Teac UD-503 DAC/amp, but this system is superior in every way.
Update of my system: Before
Always Roon on my mac mini
A new Goldmund integrated power amplifier Telos 590 NextGen II
No kidding…
Looking for a Krell FPB 300 to replace my KSA 80.

Idea’s anyone?
Roon via Imac (will switch this to a mac mini soon)
Pre Box S2 (MQA render only)
Rogue Cronus Magnum (tube rolled to KT120’s and NOS 1960’s RCAs)
Custom made La Scalas new Crites/Eminence internals

Nice art work, where are you get it?
I think the system is better art myself! Not that there is anything wrong with what’s in the wall.
Hey neighbour! I have the same modem / router. Aussie! Aussie! Aussie!
The set up looks cool on paper !
Would be even cooler to see it on a picture
Did you try out some other amplification before deciding to go TAD ?
Well I have owned some other brands before but with other speakers. Listened to TAD with other electronics but found TAD electronics to be the best match for me.
Hi Ramiro. I have the same headphones, but I’ve been looking for balanced cables. Can you tell me how you got those?
Pat H.
I got these ones via Amazon. They work great and are tangle free. My only issue is that the friction makes noise when you move your head. They are also a bit long for my taste, but at least I didn’t have to build my own this time.
Mac Mini running Roon Server/core (HD1: SSD boot drive; HD2: SSD with music files) >
Mac Mini running Roon Bridge with HQPlayer >
Matrix X-SPDIF 2 >
Topping D50 DAC >
Audiolab 8000A amp >
Harbeth P3ESR Anniversary speakers
(two other black boxes are a Sony HD Tuner and a Van Alstine phono stage)
I agree. TAD sounds best with TAD. (our ears)
Congrats !
This is the most recent (>six month old) picture of my setup. The notebook on top of the rack was replaced by a dedicated i3-based fanless pc running rock. It feeds an Ambre from Metrum Acoustics as Roon endpoint. The Ambre delivers the signal to the Wavelet. This is an integral part of the Aeris speaker system from Legacy Audio. The Wavelet works as an active crossover, DAC, preamp and room correction device. The four outputs go to the Coda Tm-amps for the mid/high section and to the build in amps for the bass.
My music resides on a Qnap NAS in my office (one floor above). Additionally I use Tidal HiFi for streaming purpose.
Side note: the picture was assembled from two fotos using Lightroom. Do you see the failures?
And yes, there is another system in the room (on the right). It’s based on an ancient Revox A77, connected to an spare Denon Receiver to drive the Stax earphones. Both the Revox and the Stax were bought by my father >40 years ago. Additionally the Revox is connected via anaolg wire to the Wavelet. If I only use the Stax, the signal (from Roon, of course) is received by an Auralic Mini, supported by an external LPS.
