My temporary Setup, experimenting on the sound profile I like. Currently,
N±->Lumin U1 via ethernet (CAT8 gave network error, so used Lumin provided cable)–> Via USB to iFi iDSD PRO–>Via XLR to RCA Billie Amp–>Buchardt A500 via RCA to XLR.
Have you tried using any Audiophile 4x2?
I’ve found the galvanically-isolated stuff with magnetosphere-aligned grain (oxygen-free, of course) really opens up the sound stage. Blacks darker than a ball of carbon nanotubes.
Thought I’d post some photos of my latest rig. Listening room is the family room…far from ideal acoustics, but I’m pretty happy with the results nonetheless.
On the rack:
Rega RP-6 with Ania Pro and upgraded sub platter
Herron Audio VTPH-2A Tube Phono Stage
Denafrips Terminator
Allo USBridge Signature streamer with Shanti LPS
Rogue Audio RP-7 pre-amp
Rogue Audio Dark ST-100 (custom build for me by Rogue)
Joseph Audio Perspective2 Graphene speakers
Uninterruptible Power Supply
Roon Nucleus+ (across the room directly attached to the router)
Beautiful all around. How do you like the Terminator? Denafrips is on my short list. Want to see if I can go sans vinyl. How does the R2R DAC stack up to wax?
Hi Rugby, I keep hearing about HQ player, can you tell me more about it and general use landscape. I got a Lumin U1 couple of days ago.. My initial plan was to feed the USB of U1 to MAY KTE or Terminator and output XLR to my A500..
Excuse my Noob question, I’m very new to this wonderful of Roon.
I had the Denafrips Ares II for almost a year and I liked it so much I decided to take the plunge and get a Terminator. It’s a night and day difference. It just does everything the Ares II does well and takes it to another level. I love it.
I also love vinyl. I will say that certainly some of my vinyl, especially the digitally sourced vinyl, doesn’t sound as good as it’s 24/192 Qobuz file, but for the most part, I prefer vinyl. But I also like the whole vinyl process. Getting up, picking an album, turning on the turntable, pulling out the actual record from the sleeve, giving it a final quick dusting with a static brush, and then picking up the tone arm and “dropping” it onto the intro groves. It still makes me smile.
That all being said, I sometime goes many weeks without playing a record. Roon, Qobuz, Allo, Terminator…sounds amazingly good. I’m sure I’d probably get a bit more out of the system with a “better” streamer or different cables, etc., but I’m pretty happy as it is.
Its general use is to do upsampling and apply filters to feed DACs . Since one of the, imho, great options about the HOLO is their NOS mode, HQP is a perfect match.
@andybob can speak to their use together (he has a older version of the HOLO). or @jussi_laako who knows the most about his own software.
