I’m an audiophile toddler so take this with a grain of salt. I’m only posting this because when I googled “Simaudio ACE with external DAC” I got nothing.
I bought this amp because I got a really good deal on the Vision 22 speakers and the amp is designed for those speakers (or vice versa). But, I found the sound sorta Meh, and it occurred to me to try connecting my Mytek Brooklyn+ DAC. Hello!
Just saying - it’s better. Describing how better is like coming up for the words to describe wine. Let’s just say “more yummy.”
So, now you know. I was going to try to sell the Brooklyn and other stuff and use the money to buy another integrated amp with a really good DAC. I googled that. Yeah, that’s gonna set me back a lot of money. There isn’t really all that much discussion about that topic out there other than a couple of typically snooty Audiogon threads. Hegel 590 or 390? Aavik? Axxess Forte 1?
Plus, selling gear on US Audiomart isn’t all that fun.
So, I think I’m just gonna stick with what I have because now with the external DAC, it really does seem like the amp and speakers are in love with each other.
