Singles in my library aren’t being properly identified due to small (but predictable) changes in the album name. This is happening pretty consistently across my library. I’ll provide an example.
There is a single called “American Girl” by Ta-Ku. The title and album in my library is “American Girl (feat. Wafia)”. Tags shown here:
Is this considered expected behavior? If so, is it possible for Roon to identify these releases despite the “feat. Wafia”. I have thousands of songs like this, so fixing each one would be painful. And I’d argue Roon should be able to identify despite this small naming preference.
Also worth noting that this is a similar issue with EPs. I’ll have an EP named “Foo EP”, but Roon won’t identify it despite having it in the database. I feel like Roon should be able to match despite “EP” at the end.
When there are significant issues, such as metadata mismatches, (and I consider this such a case) Roon leaves the album as unidentified. One of the Roon staff elsewhere has indicated this is intentional.
So then perhaps it’s more of a feature request then? These little discrepancies such as “feat. foobar” and “EP” should be detected and accounted for in Roon. These are predicatable patterns that show up in routine locations and tags.
Thank you for bringing this metadata issue to our attention. We’re looking into this particular case and think we may have a good idea why this is happening. We’ve submitted a ticket on this issue.
We ask that, in the future, you please utilize the reporting template that populates the New Topic dialogue box. This structure assists with uniformity and helps us to act on your reports more efficiently.
We’re grateful for your concern and assistance with these efforts.
