Most likely not going to happen because Spotify doesn’t want to.
Still no further news or official updates on this?
the question answers itself.
This is an interesting read.
That’s not to say it won’t arrive eventually. But, Kaefer believes that it’ll only happen if the streaming service finds a way to make the audio sound demonstrably better, so that users can easily hear any improvements: "Sometimes, I think people have been sold on audio formats that are not perceptibly better. We’re reluctant to play into that.
“If we bring something forward, we want a large percentage of our users to really notice it and value the difference.”

Really, looks like he came just to push some questionable web site.
The link is not relevant to the subject (and now removed), but rumours are picking up today:

The way they have handled this lossless audio roll out, pretty much radio silence since their deadline failed leaving their customers guessing, it will be a cold day in hell before I hand another penny to that outfit.
I already pay for a family account, so I’d probably just drop Qobuz and get with lossless Spotify if this actually does rollout. Then it’s a question of whether my Naim streamer will support lossless Spotify Connect from day one. They haven’t even implemented Tidal Max update yet but did see their firmware update will also include latest Spotify updates. So depends if Spotify already gave vendors the update needed ahead of time. Heard one vendor had lossless update in place couple year ago. So who knows.
I just can’t believe how this keeps getting teased every few months and yet nothing new from Spotify but general prices increases.

I love the, “in early days”, comment. If that was said in 2021 we’d be more understanding instead it was announced as ready to go.
I saw the video, the Spotify created music, which they apparently have musicians record for a royalty free flat fee payment, then use to pad out music streams to reduce even further the royalties they pay artists, made me even more determined to never sub again.
And looking at the link above, almost 6 months ago, hifi was coming soon (again).
I believe Apple went into the hi-res business because of Spotify’s lossless announcement. And that was back in 2021 I believe.
I’m more than happy with Qobuz and Tidal. I see no reason so resub to Spotify.
