I’ve updated to the RoPieee 2024.10 (1840) update, with no place to enter the spotify username/password in settings. The Spotify Connect of my RoPiee speakers does not appear when I open the iPhone Spotify app while connected to the wifi network that the RoPieee is on. I understand that Spotify changed something such that it no longer uses username/password authentication. Is there some other way that I should be authenticating with Spotify so that the RoPieee shows up in my Spotify app?
Spotify on my iPhone does see my MacBook as a spotify connect device when the program is open on my computer.
EDIT: Immediately after posting the below, I changed the “Volume Control” setting to “Software,” and RoPieee showed up as a Spotify Connect device in my apps. Problem solved!
Thanks, yes I am logged into my Spotify account on my phone and my desktop, and they can see each other on my local network.
The RoPieee works perfectly as a Roon endpoint.
I have the Spotify connect settings under Services as, service name: DR; audio output USB; volume control: none; initial volume 100; volume normalisation: off; autoplay: off.
Previously, I assume that the RoPieee used the username/pwd in settings to log into my spotify account. Now that it doesn’t have that setting, should it automatically show up as a Spotify connect device in the Spotify app when it is on my local network and my phone/computer are logged in and also connected to my local network?
I can’t get Ropieee to show up at all in Spotify connect. I’ve tried rebooting multiple times and changing the settings on the Services tab, nothing seems to help.
Hi Harry, Just sent feedback from my Ropieee with identifier 459537303f303ae4. My device does not show up anymore in the Spotify app. Benjamin reported to have this solved by selecting software volume control. I tried this but it does not work in my case.
I checked several times, even after at least 30 minutes, and it didn’t show up. I was just going to answer you and just this morning for some reason it shows up again. It was on for about an hour now but did not check earlier. I will keep watching what happens next times.
ok… I’m planning on releasing an early beta this weekend. I’ll update the Spotify software also, maybe that improves things for you. I’ll let you know.

Harry, Last Monday or Tuesday I installed beta build 2157. I assume this is the early beta you were pointing at.
Unfortunately it doesn’t really make a difference. Just like before, sometimes the player shows up in Spotify after a while, but mostly not.
Do you have any other ideas about what could be a solution?
I just updated to 2025.03 (2306). The issue remains; player doesn’t show up in Spotify connect.
It may be useful to mention that I have another player which uses the same RPi and HAT hardware. I haven’t updated this one for years since it is not easy to get to the Micro SD card. It is running a really old version of Ropieee(XL) V4.020 which is out of suppport. However, this one has been running smoothly all the time, and still is!
