Store music on a USB key

Hi,

Is it possible to store music on a USB key, not a USB HD or SSD but a key ?

It is, for the operating system it just appears as a USB mass storage device just like an SSD. It might be more likely to have failures, but if you don’t write it a lot, this might be fine.

Thanks, in that case wich format is the best according to you : exFAT, EXT4 … ?

exFAT will allow the greatest compatibility. Keep in mind, USB keys usually have no error checking, so, I wouldn’t rely on the Key as the main data repository.

Either should be fine for this purpose if you have ext4 compatibility (e.g. if you use Linux on the PC; Mac and Windows can’t access ext4 out of the box). exFAT has a larger default cluster size, but you are not storing lots of very small files. Ext4 might have larger administrative data (I don’t really know) but it is probably not relevant. Ext4 is faster but that doesn’t matter either, nor do file permissions
