I have Windows 11 with a HP PC. My Roon dealer recommended that I put all my music on an external hard drive and connect that to the Nucleus, rather than put it all in the Nucleus to begin with.
There may have been an issue with transferring my music to the Nucleus directly, but tbh this was set up a long time ago and I don’t remember the circumstances.
I am now questioning this setup, but the Roon dealer is no longer available. Should I being doing something different? If so, will I lose the 250+ playlists I have already set up?
The dealer was probably concerned about the size of your library and transferring over the network which would have taken a long time.
Moving your music into the nucleus to an internal drive, if you have a second one installed that is, you’d probably lose all your playlists because, IIRC, it saves the path to the files in each playlist.
Having your files on an external drive connected to your nucleus is fine.
If it ain’t broke don’t worry about trying to fix it.
