Linked from the Subvert website, and mentions a couple of other services: Nina Protocol* and Cantilever.

Just under 200,000 users and 30,000 supporter. Early days, but this could compete directly with Bandcamp which charges a 10-15% platform fee plus payment processing.
I’ll certainly use subvert.fm in preference to other platforms if artists I’m interested in use the platform.
There’s no streaming, so I’m not sure how discovery will work, other than taking a punt.

They need to get a good range of artists that interest people, so it is early days and always a chicken and egg problem. Hopefully it applies some pressure to Bandcamp to continue to improve. Their streaming for paid albums at 128Kb MP3 is embarrassing.
But 80% money going to artist’s is better than they ever get anywhere else. There is always a price of service as Apple keeps telling the world about the App Store. Reasonable costs and business profits are a whole different thing though

This is true, but it does appear to allow playback of all albums without purchasing and in full.
You can play back your purchases too and I have saved it as a PWA on my iPhone.
