Sounds supremely clear but lacks bass a little. I am a bit of a bass head though.
Added a bit of low end EQ and seems better.
I agree 100% its a plus having a device that’s Roon ready. More convenient.
Have you thought about adding a separate headphone amp?

Me? No I haven’t, I’ve now moved my x to my main system so I need the balanced output connected to my preamp. Also adding external hp amp would lose the remote volume, and I’m lazy

As long as the X is the first step it should be volume controlled by Roon.
I’m a little underwhelmed by the Stellia / X combo as I don’t think they pair right but I have faith in them so will try with a Chord DAC in the first instance or try the Empyrean same as you.
They do need 100+ hours burn in and I haven’t done that yet…I have also heard them sound beautiful. It’s just a little inconsistent.
Let’s see how they are after 100hrs then I’ll decide. I must admit they are completely different after 50hrs of burn in. Never thought that would make a difference but it really does!
