Switching from AirPlay to RAAT misbehaving

I’m running RoPieeeXL 2024.01.1 (1292) on a Raspberry Pi 4 with USB Ifi Zen DAC v2.

I can play music via RAAT and AirPlay (ShairportSync), however after playing on AirPlay and switching back to RAAT I get “Failed to open the audio device” error until I restart RoPieee. I’ve tried with Force Airplay 1 On/Off and reinstalled Roon Bridge but the issue remains, are there any other troubleshooting steps I could try? Thanks in advance!

My use case is RAAT generally and AirPlay to sync with a speaker in the back garden.

There can only be one applicattion at a time that has access to the audio device.
Most services (like Roon/RAAT itself) release their control of the device when not playing.

Unfortunately Shairport (the component responsible for AirPlay) is not doing that. Only a reboot can fix this.
