Switching from Windows core to ROCK: a couple of questions

Hi,
I’m considering switching from my old Windows core i7 2600k to a NUC with ROCK but I have some open questions. Sorry if these questions are repetitions…

I have my library 30.000 albums 360.000 tracks spanned on 4HDD inside a 4 bay multidrive USB 3.0 box. So I wouldn’t have files on internal storage but only in external drive. Is it a problem? are there downsides?

The other and more critical point. Now I put music on USB drives directly from core PC. If I switch to ROCK is there a possibility in ROCK to share the USB drives connected to ROCK via gigabit LAN, so that I could load music from a PC in the same network?

Thanks in advance
Cheers

This is the way most of us transfer music from a PC to ROCK storage. See this article:

Use of USB external drives is supported. What is the make of your 4 bay multidrive USB 3.0 box? Maybe someone has already used it in an existing setup.

With 360,000 tracks, you would be well advised to equip your ROCK/NUC with at least 16GB RAM (2 x 8GB in a matched pair) or even 32GB RAM…
