I am busy tagging my music. How do I see music without the genres ?
how do I reach the screen David White is talking about ?

Focus > Inspector > Has Genres
then click again to negate.
Consider saving the Focus as a Bookmark until you finished tagging (if this takes some time).
Sorry, didn’t express myself clearly… I don’t want to see the genres at all.
When the active “Has Genres” Focus Filter is negated (by clicking on it’s icon) it becomes “Has No Genres” and the all albums that have no Genres tags are now displayed.
Post commented screenshots to try making yourself more clear then:
My impression is the user is looking for an option for the the genres (red-circled here) to not be displayed at all, and to only see the tags (green-circled here). Which is a good suggestion IMO (and I think it would be relatively common for someone to want to sidestep the entire genre tree and use their own tags).
Can’t you just highlight everything in your library and remove genres?
Its not something I have done, because messing with some library import settings will trigger a rescan of your library which with larger libraries will take a very long time. But there are two library import settings that in principle look as if they switch off genres. Maybe someone can comment on their effect:
A word of warning though. Roon uses the Classical and Jazz genres to trigger behaviour different to Pop genres, for example the way composers are displayed so if these switches do indeed switch off genres then they should be used with caution.
As far as I know you can’t blanket remove all genres from files in your library. If you select all the albums and ‘edit’, you are able to remove individual genres from the selected albums - but one genre at a time which would take ages (and in my experience of editing the genres of multiple albums at once, may not work at all).
I’m not sure whether switching off genres for local library files and rescanning them would affect genre display showing up for other/streaming content. I suspect not.
Beware , if you delete Genre “CLASSICAL” or it’s missing for some reason , it screws the Focus tool , the Compositions on the album do not show. If Focus doesn’t show compositions, adding CLASSICAL fixes it .
eg here it’s missing
