Description of Issue

My copied CDs are stored on an SSD within the Novafidelity X45. When this device is switched off , my other Roon music players (Sonos) do not have access to the copied CDs. Therefore, it would be better if the SSD holding the CDs was in the Nucleus instead. How do I achieve this? I understand that simply transferring the SSD is not good enough as the two devices require different formatting?

Grateful for an explanation using words of one syllable as I’m no technophile.

You can simply plug an external SSD (or moving HDD even) drive into the Nucleus.

This is also helpful; it is for ROCK but applies to Nucleus just the same:

Note the USB Storage - Best Practice part as well:

I did a cursory search for the X45 and as best I can tell it probably uses a Linux based OS. So it’s unlikely your SSD will plug into the Nucleus. My suggestion for best performance is to get a new SSD and install it into your Nucleus then copy your music to it over the network. I’m not sure how this affects CD ripping if you use the X45 for that purpose. I doubt the X45 can rip to an external folder. You can use any PC connected to your network to rip directly to the watched folder on the SSD in the Nucleus using dBPoweramp or the like.
