Once I jumped ship (early) from the rat race, I stopped the caffeine input. I managed for two years, but got fed up of hot honey and lemon in the morning. Now I’m good with this brew. 4 years retired at the end of August. Love a morning brew!
I never drank tea until I was in my late fifties, this and Jaffa Cake tea are the only ones I can tolerate: both with chocolate oat milk. My wife thinks I have the palate of a toddler!
Yes, you do. ![]()
Oh! Jaffa cake tea sounds intriguing.
My wife is cutting out caffeine for her BP so I am drinking a lot of Decaf Yorkshire Tea as well. I have to say, that I don’t really notice the difference between this and ‘full fat’ Yorkshire Tea. The difference between a newly opened packet and one that has been opened for a couple of weeks is more marked.
However, I do compensate for the lack of caffeine by having a mug of strong filter coffee first thing in the morning.
Come on Wade. Support your wife ![]()
We’ve always use semi skimmed milk, so maybe that’s why the decaf tea is not that noticeable to me. My wife still drinks coffee via pods and an elaborate machine.
Its been that long, that I cannot remember how much better a full fat caffeinated brew would be. ![]()
And once the tea bag box is bought it gets transferred to a sealed container, so perhaps that may help reduce the taste difference that you are experiencing?
I do. We average 4 to 6 cups of tea a day - all decaf. But I have always liked to start my day with a coffee whereas Helen is happier with a cup of tea.
I have tried a cheap decaf filter coffee but found it to be characterless and, since it’s only really me drinking it, I went back to a much more satisfying caffeinated variety.
I have two pint mugs of my weird teas each day, both after dog walking.
I tend to wake up and have two or three cups of decaf tea, have a shower, then a bottle of water, and then no tea for the rest of the day. Funny, when I was working it was always coffee, now I don’t even think about it.
My wife switched to Decaf most mornings (coffee, tea doesn’t much affect her) as she found that sitting down to work with a caffeinated system wasn’t enough movement to supply the demand. ![]()
I have two coffees in the morning. I also didn’t drink coffee until I past 50, but over Covid we became baristas in our own home. It’s a fun hobby and I love the ritual. I never did get attached to the “traditional” bitter coffee taste and instead pursue the buttery balanced flavours, bright citrus flavours, and floral notes that are in a lot of third wave beans.
Again, a hobby rather than a vehicle to inject caffeine.
Sometimes I’ll be on a run of “meh” beans and I question why I spend the time, but then I get a run of
and I keep going. ![]()
Fortunately there’s something for everyone whatever your motivation.
An Ethiopian Natural seemed perfect for a Cortado this AM. Poured the milk too fast to get good art.
Much as I love a well brewed mug like a great recording, you can’t get every cup at the dsd-512 level, and sometimes you are just stuck with the mp3 version…
None of that would have worked without the Loveramics cup ![]()
Ha. True enough!
Very nice machine
, which brand is it?
I wonder if this is available in Europe… Best regards, enjoy it.

Thanks, very nice website and beautiful machines. About in the same price class as la Marzocco.
We 'll seen in the future …
Beste greetings,

It’s not free, that’s for certain. And there are a lot of new flow control machines coming to the market. But I have to say, it is pretty great!
