It would be great if tickboxes could be added to ‘history’ so you could easily add a bunch of songs to a playlist as opposed to having to select them one by one.
I heard a song on the radio for the first time yesterday (reggae from the mid-70’s) that I hadn’t heard before. I started a Roon Radio stream using that song and it played me a fantastic selection of songs that I really enjoyed. It’s great when it does such a good job and I thought it’d be great to make those into a playlist. There just doesn’t seem to be a quick / elegant way to do this.
If you mean the Win/Mac control app, you can multi-select a range of tracks by holding the Shift key or add individual tracks by holding Ctrl (Win) or Cmd (Mac).
Thank you for that - I’ll fire up the PC later and have a go at this.
I’m mostly using Roon on an iPad and then sending to either the kitchen speaker or the Kefs in the living room and, on iPad, I can’t see a way to so this. If it’s a thing that’s easy on PC then (for me personally) ‘problem solved’
The Shift and Ctrl/Cmd for multiselection are common conventions on Win/Mac, and in Roon they are only available on these platforms, as well.
On the iPad (and phone) you can long tap a track, and this will start the multiselection. Then you will see a tick box for each track, which work as you expect.
For bigger selections, like ranges of many tracks, it’s faster on the computer with Shift, though.
You, sir, have been very helpful. I did not know this. Have just successfully done this action on my iPad. Thank you for teaching me something very useful
If any mods read this, may as well close the feature request as it’s me+user error!
I still need to practice this on iPad - even though I’m clearly selecting a bunch of songs and can see check marks next to each, when I click ‘add to playlist’ only one song goes across.
So I highlight a bunch of tracks…. Each has a tick next to it. Top left corner says 6 tracks. I then click the three dots on any line highlighted and ‘add to playlist’
Here’s the problem, and the UI design is not ideal as it’s easy to confuse this: Even if you have several tracks (or other items) selected, if you choose the three dot menu of any individual track, then the action still only applies to this individual track, in the same way as it does if there is no multiselection.
To apply an action to all selected tracks, you have to click the main (…) button at the top. The same applies to the Play button and “x selected” menu next to the (…) button. These also affect the whole selection.
I just noticed that an Edit button appears top right as well, this one also applies to the whole selection.
Multiselection is really cool, it works on most screens and you can also, e.g., edit several albums at once to change genres, add the same credits to all of them, etc. Enjoy
