Tidal albums without any bit depth information?

Hi, I often encounter albums on Tidal that don’t show any info on the bit depth or sampling rate. Is this a Tidal issue or a Roon issue ? Never had the issue with Qobuz. Anything I can do about this ?

Here’s an example:

This is because Qobuz provides us with format information up front, but TIDAL does not, so we have to figure it out for ourselves.

Ok, so, what does that mean, the information will be added later ? Can I manually check the bit depth, or I just need to play a track and see what the signal path says ?

The signal path in Roon during playback will show the truth.

I think that once it’s played, Roon will add the info to its database (at least IIRC this was stated during the switch away from MQA)

Thanks but that doesn’t seem to be the case. Below an example of an album I’ve played a few times already an although the signal path indeed shows the bit info, the overal album bit depth & sampling rate are still missing.

In any case, I obviously want to select the right album version based on quality without having to play a song first (especially since something is probably playing already when I’m browsing for new albums). But ok, I understand this as a software limitation and I’ll just have to deal with it I guess.

I didn’t say that it happens immediately
During the MQA transition it was missing in many, many cases, and IIRC Roon Labs said that playing them would over time populate Roon’s database, but it’s certainly possible that this first happens centrally and is delivered to users’s databases when they fetch new metadata from Roon

It seems that Roon will not add any bit depth or sample rate info once the album was added to someone’s library. You can play it as often as you want. And it seems it got worse after TIDAL ditched MQA and introduced the Max setting. I have already sent a few tickets to Roon’s support but there is no fix even after months. To me this is a huge issue since I want to know about formats in my library and also a lot of functions like focus filters, playlist enhancements etc. will not work if Roon does not know the format. I really hope Roon will find a solution here. I find myself using TIDAL connect and BluOS more often because of that.

If so, this doesn’t seem right. I’ve searched for the statement I meant and it seems to say that the info should be added:

I know this statement but it’s not working. I have dozens of albums where the album format is still not showing after months and after they have played many times in my library.

That’s what I meant with „if so, this doesn’t seem right“

Sorry, you are right. I misunderstood your statement.
