Tidal huge number of album versions?

Frequently Roon claims there are a huge number of album versions on Tidal but when I go to Tidal there are not that many.

For example The Lockdown Sessions by Elton John — Roon claims 12 Tidal versions but when I go to the Tidal app it shows three versions.

This happens with many, many of my albums.

This is very strange, Roon what is going on?

I don’t use streaming, so this may be of limited help, but it appears possible from your screenshots that Roon is segregating the versions that Tidal otherwise aggregates and allows you to select via a different mechanism. I can see at least:

15 track non-explicit version
16 track non-explicit version
17 track non-explicit version
16 track non-explicit Xmas version

15 track explicit version
16 track explicit version
17 track explicit version
16 track explicit Xmas version

And possibly some other variants that I cannot discern from where I sit.

EDIT: oh, yes, and then MQA and non MQA variants…

ah interesting that Tidal chooses to aggregate versions, I wouldn’t have thought of that. Strange in a way though, that Tidal would have these versions but hide them from Tidal users (at least through the Tidal app).

Tidal app will not show the MQA versions that Roon still does.

Title has moved away from MQA on their in-house app. They are in the process of doing the same on Roon but aren’t there yet.

Tidal app plays what it considers to be the best version based on your preferences for explicit material and streaming bitrate settings.
Roon shows everything.
