Tidal subscription downloads vs Apple Music subscription downloads - both are ‘rented’ while you subscribe so why can Roon see downloaded Tidal music but not downloaded Apple files? Both must have DRM that deletes them if you cease to subscribe. I guess Apple’s file format is more restrictive?
When I took out my first subscription to MusicMatch at the turn of the millennium and the software developers also brought a player for Windows, Steve Jobs annulled the old marriage between the two companies and instructed his executives to do anything that would spell doom for MusicMatch and bring about the monopoly-like rise of iTunes. Would they want to do more for Roon today? If even the most beautiful bride can’t stay in a good marriage, marriage is not an option.
