TP Link Deco Update Caused Loss of All Roon Zones

Heads up to TP Link Deco users!

Over the weekend an update to my Deco mesh routers was installed. After that all my Roon zones were gone. Multiple reboots of the Decos and everything else on my network did not resolve the problems. A restore to a recent backup of Roon did nothing. Finally, I replaced the Deco system with my older eeros and everything was back to normal.

Have you tried a factory reset and start from scratch on the DECO?

No I didn’t. I was so fed up that once I got it working with the eeros I left it that way. Good idea though.

“Bricking” defines a state where an electronic device becomes completely unresponsive and can’t function or be easily repaired. This certainly didn’t happen.

Did you ever save the config of the Deco, before the update? if you have then it would easier to restore it from there. Or else, you have to set it up again from memory.

I’ve updated the title of this topic to more accurately reflect the issue.

Thanks, but “broke my network” is not accurate. Everything else on my network worked perfectly. Only Roon was affected. I suppose my title should have been “resulted in loss of all zones”. I fixed it accordingly.

If we are to help we will need details of your network (modem, router, switches), roon devices (remotes and what zones on what hardware), how they are connected (wired or wireless), and what device are you using for your server? Also, what IPs are in use? Are all the devices that have Roon zones or remtoes on the same subnet with the DECO router installed?

The ONLY reason for my post was to alert members who use Deco mesh systems that the latest update MAY render their zones unable to connect to the Roon server.

Rather than document all the details about my network setup, suffice it to say that the nodes consist of hardwired and WiFi connected devices. This includes Sonos speakers, Bose radios, AV receivers, and Sonore Rendu modules. None of these were shown as Roon nodes until I replaced the Deco system.
